Weekly Feedback by lecturer
TASK1: RESEARCH IMPLEMENTATION – DISSERTATION DRAFT (Weeks 1-7) |
Feedback by lecturer | Action by Student |
|
|
| I’ve added the structure based on the example Miss Jin chi gave during the lecture. Therefore, I have written down the only main finding for the literature review. Miss also said that the matrix was simply to help guide me to do the discussion and analysis.
|
| After the feedback from Miss I’ve done my research on discussion and analysis based on my research questions. |
On the literature part please add more paragraphs about the research methods as well as evaluations of the findings on the three articles. For the citation please avoid using a website and preferably find from books and articles, can try downloading the graphic design book from the DRM introduction video. Other than that, add a picture of certain facts to strengthen the proof that has been made.
| I’ve completed the literature review as well as conclusion to explain more my understanding of the three articles that I’ve analyzed. On this matter, some of the citation i’ve to use are from the website as I can't seem to find the article or book on the topic. I've also downloaded the graphic design book and it has been a great help for me. I've added pictures of the posters that I've analysed during this assignments.
|
| I’ve summarised 2.2 and 2.3 and have put them together in one. |
| I’ve added more than one reply of the survey in 5.3 with italic and bold. I’ve also made the introduction of each poster based on the title, the group’s name, location and time of the poster will be performed. The conclusion has been ready to show for the next tutorial session. |
TASK 2: DISSERTATION WITH VISUAL DESIGN (Weeks 7-11) |
Feedback by lecturer | Action by Student |
The idea of the cover book does not reflect the research that I have done. Please explore more on the cover and try to apply elements in the posters on the cover. Everything else seems fine and can proceed with the example layout of number 2.
| Therefore, I've been searching for more inspiration to look at the poster cover mostly on Pinterest and have changed the aesthetic from the original idea. |
The information behind the cover needs to be arranged following the mib sequences. Well done with the cover but please put a name on it as well. Numbering the pages. The page content seems overwhelming so maybe I can consider putting the big title instead.
| I’ve arranged the information based on the mib sequences. I've also been reminded to put my name as well on the cover as I've forgotten to put it. As for the numbering on the pages I've found little inspiration on Pinterest and decided to use the current’s on my book. I’ve also amended the page content to not make it look overwhelmed as Miss Jinchi suggested. |
| We have been reminded to use the “Final” cover page for our turnitin submission. |
TASK 4: ARTICLE FOR JOURNAL PUBLICATION (Weeks 11-14) |
Feedback by lecturer | Action by Student |
Include the usage of poster on the introduction section Do include a survey design question along in the paragraph and redo the appendix A. Include citations in the findings and discussion section

REFLECTION
Observation
Embarking on my design dissertation journey, I discovered how crucial a structured and systematic approach is to achieving meaningful and impactful results. By integrating qualitative and quantitative methodologies, I was able to explore my research topic from diverse perspectives. This dual approach enabled me to create a balance between theoretical analysis and practical application. One key observation was the importance of understanding audience needs and behaviors, which became the foundation for shaping my design decisions. The process highlighted how critical it is to connect research insights to real-world design challenges, ensuring the work remains relevant and impactful.
Findings
As I progressed, one of the most significant findings was the transformative power of iteration and feedback. Each stage of the research, from initial planning to execution, benefited from continuous evaluation and refinement. This iterative process not only improved the quality of the outcomes but also deepened my understanding of the subject matter. Furthermore, focusing on audience interaction and satisfaction revealed how visual design could influence emotions and perceptions, making it a vital element in creating engaging experiences. These findings reinforced the idea that a strong alignment between audience needs and design solutions is essential for success.
Experience
This journey was both challenging and rewarding. It required me to step out of my comfort zone, confront unexpected obstacles, and embrace constructive criticism as a tool for growth. I developed resilience and adaptability, skills that proved invaluable as I navigated the complexities of the dissertation. The process also taught me to think critically, ask better questions, and refine my design approach. These experiences not only enhanced my academic and creative abilities but also shaped my perspective as a designer.
Acknowledgment
I am deeply grateful to Miss Jinchi, whose guidance was instrumental throughout this journey. Her expertise, encouragement, and thoughtful feedback helped me stay focused and motivated. Her mentorship provided clarity and confidence, making the challenges of this dissertation feel manageable. This reflection stands as a testament to the valuable lessons I’ve learned and as an expression of my heartfelt gratitude for her support.
