Task 2: Visual Analysis
This task is the continuation of the Task 1 where we were required to
assess, investigate, document and analyse the existing art/design work
that we have selected. We have to study the design principles found in
the work, as well as
the size, placement, purpose, effectiveness of the design in relation
to the UNSDG goal that we have chosen.

OBSERVATION
This painting is in portrait format. In the centre lies an orangutan looking
sad yet having a slight happy face expression while holding a seeding in its
right hand. Surrounding the orangutan is the waste of plastic bottles and food
packaging were scattering on the ground. As for the background, this painting
shows the dead trees is on fire and the sky was covered by the smoke of the
fire's. As for the visual elements, the mai colours observed are grey, orange,
yellow and brown. Overall, this painting is dull-looking painting but with
some of the colours that blending in, it manage to make this painting looking
interesting. This painting using various of interesting shapes and mostly it
using an organic line. (122 words)
ANALYSIS
This painting is well emphasised on the orangutan because of its size
proportion as well as the colour of it. In this painting the orangutan was
holding a seed of a plant. The orangutan was surrounds by the trash and the
dead and burning trees. Symbols was using on the trash that are
scatters on the ground of the painting. The colour of the background, the
trash and orangutan showing the contrast between these two main things
in the painting. There's also a slight movement of the burning trees
where the smokes and fires move upwards. Lastly, there is unity, the
repetition of the colours and shapes in this picture has given this work unity
and created a sense of oneness. (121 words)
INTERPRETATION
This poster was designed for three major one woman exhibitions and the artist
had won the grand prize for this painting title 'The Futures In Our Hands' back
in 20th February 2020. I find this artist has implied the technique called
impressionistic style. The 19th-century art movement known as impressionism
is characterised by open composition, tiny, noticeable brushstrokes, and an
emphasis on the shifting characteristics of light. It began in Paris in the
1870s and 1880s, with a focus on common subjects, unusual perspectives, and the
incorporation of movement into human experience. (92 words)

FEEDBACKS
Week 5
Redo the 'Interpretation' part and add two more pictures that are kind of
similar to the art styles and describes it. Also, please add reflection and
further reading in every tasks.
REFLECTION
Experience
This task had thought me to see a bigger picture of paintings by describe
it with every small details. Thus, this has made to be more connecting
with the artwork on various levels, ranging from its aesthetic qualities
to its underlying themes, encouraged a strong feeling of empathy and
connection to the problems in question.
Observations
I've observed and understood the detailed of the artwork's compositional
features and visual language was made evident through the process of
closely examining and analysing the design principles that are present in
it.
Findings
Based on these observations, a number of important conclusions were drawn
that clarified how well the artwork advanced the chosen UNSDG aim. The
artwork's potential to effectively advocate for and effect social change was
highlighted by its deliberate alignment with the concepts of equality,
sustainability, or any other relevant subject.
FURTHER READING
An Indonesian artist portrays her country's challenges in her artwork, focusing on the environmental devastation from deforestation affecting wildlife like tigers, elephants, rhinos, and orangutans. Orangutan populations have sharply declined, with Bornean orangutans projected at 104,700 (Endangered) and Sumatran orangutans at roughly 7,500 (Critically Endangered). The artist highlights human activities and selfishness in this crisis, urging viewers to plant trees and avoid palm oil products to preserve the planet for future generations.

Impressionism was a style of art popular in the 19th century that was distinguished by its open composition, relatively thin and visible brushstrokes, emphasis on accurately capturing light in all of its changing qualities (often emphasising the effects of time passing), common subjects, unconventional visual angles, and incorporation of movement as an essential component of human perception and experience. Impressionism began with a group of Parisian artists who rose to fame in the 1870s and 1880s through their own exhibits.
The traditional French art world fiercely opposed the Impressionists. The word "impressionist style" was first used in a satirical 1874 review of the First Impressionist Exhibition in the Parisian newspaper Le Charivari. It was inspired by the title of a Claude Monet painting titled Impression, soleil levant (Impression, Sunrise). Similar approaches in other media quickly followed the emergence of Impressionism in the visual arts and were dubbed Impressionist music and Impressionist literature
