For this task we must focus on developing our visual design skills and begin planning the interactive design elements and features for our websites. Unlike traditional static websites, interactive design—where animations are incorporated and requires a plan that not only outlines the visual layout but also provides examples or references for the intended animations. We can either create our own animations or use references to illustrate our concepts.

The requirements include:

  • A walkthrough video that presents the plan and showcases the animation examples and/or references.
  • Reflective studies posted online in the E-portfolio, with links to any resources used in the planning process, such as Figma or Miro links.

REFLECTIONS

Experience

Working on the interactive design task was a highly immersive and creative process, balancing visual design with functional animation planning. The experience involved experimenting with various interactive features, ensuring they seamlessly integrated with the overall layout. It was both challenging and rewarding to align animations with design goals.

Observations

Thoughtful animations significantly enhance user experience, making the site feel dynamic and intuitive. However, overuse or misalignment of animations can lead to user distraction and reduce usability. The delicate balance between engaging elements and clear navigation proved to be a pivotal aspect of the design process.

Findings

I learned that the relationship between visuals and animations is crucial for user engagement. The research phase underscored the need for precise motion cues to guide users effectively, and I also explored animation references to understand best practices.
